Ex-theatre director, Catriona Gill  founded Classic Wedding Cakes in 2003.  Having worked with actors such as Julie Christie, Leslie Caron, Ian McShane and Kevin McKidd, Catriona brings a dramatic eye to the creation of one of the most important aspects of the wedding feast.

We recently created the wedding cake 'Red Red Rose' for best-selling novelist Jenny Colgan, author of 'Amanda's Wedding'.  Her winter wedding took place at the magical Culzean Castle in Ayrshire and the cake was displayed and cut in the Castle's imposing armoury.  In such a dramatic setting Jenny wanted an impressive yet delicate cake with flowers reflecting her bouquet of blood red roses and ivy.  Each of the flowers and the ivy on the cake was hand made from edible sugar paste and painstakingly painted to match.'  The cake was personally delivered and the final touches added by Catriona on the morning of the wedding.  'The cake was everything we could have wished for and more.  It was stunning!' said Jenny.
